I truly am very contrite - once I decided to get involved with a Blog , I should at least have been committed to the relationship. My intentions were sincere - I just have a roving eye and too much curiosity about too many things to be faithful. On top of my inherent weaknesses, add a new computer with a new operating system, and a not so new brain.

I have strayed.

Cobourg celebrated Canada Day as usual with the largest festial in Canada. Unlike most other locations in Canada, rather than May 24th, Queen Victoria's Birthday, this is when we set off our fireworks and choose to celebrate this wonderful country.

It is the busiest weekend for most of the Hospitality providers with the talented Artisans and Artists as well as the hordes of visitors who make this event what it is. I was very fortunate this year. Ellis Burrows who is the Master behind The Wicked Gourmet stayed at Mackechnie House. He has developed an original, versatile, and perfectly named, deliciously wicked line of Condiments, Sauces and Rubs. There are few people in the food business as committed to quality and sophisticated flavour as Ellis.

And, if that wasn't enough, Melody,(who could not have a more fitting name),
was also a guest. Melody sources vintage T -shirts and antique linens and oh! what you'll find. Funky, fun and amazingly creative, not to speak of helping all of us by
retrofitting resouces. I can hardly wait to wear my dress that says "My life is Rock and Roll and I like it.

Check out Melody's great clothes at Precocious Boutique

Delicious food; delicious clothes. Can't get much better!

A lovely business is Bed and Breakfast. Catering is too because the menus are fun to dream up but you get to meet and talk to so many interesting ,intelligent and often very funny guests over coffee in the morning.

This weekend a family celebrated their parents' 60th wedding anniversary.I only hope I am as with it when I am in my late 80's (I hope I am as with it when I am in my
70's!). It is so nice to see a family who all like each other so much it doesn't happen all that often.

Breakfast must have been alright.

Feeling guilty

But --- what is new? never seem to be able to get done in a day what I want to.

Have also realized that while Catering is 50% of my life, I would like to dwell more on my Bed and Breakfast and some of the wonderfully interesting guests who come here. I will also share recipes that I enjoy making, both for the Bed and Breakfast and my catering clients.

Tomorrow I am headed off to Toronto to do a very special Wedding Celebration for a dear friend's daughter. Right now I am trying to decide whether to prepare duck in a honey, chiliand lemon sauce, or just serve the slice of rare breast with a date and ginger chutney. (This will one of the hors d'oeuvre so I can have fun with it).I think probably one of the hits of the afternoon will be a selection of miniature ice cream fruits.

A week later

I seem to have Writer's Block before even getting started. I am waiting for someone to help me post pictures so I have a frame of reference to go from.

I don't have a lot of food stories right now. Although the Bed and Breakfast is busy,I am not nearly as busy with Catering which is too bad, because that is what gives me the excuse I need to buy new cookbooks.

I wonder sometimes if I cook because of the food or because of the colours. I did something for breakfast this morning with raspberries and brilliantly green kiwi and it was gorgeous.

When I learn more about how to manage this blog, I would like to post recipes with pictures. I am a non-accomplishing writer who would love to develop a cookbook if I could think of a concept that hasn't been done a million times already. Or, maybe that is an excuse.

Getting Started

Great!

My first attempt and I erased the whole thing!

I think I am about to start a new period in my life and I hope I won't bore you too much. I just spent a short time with and old and dear friend and Oh My! She gave me a lot to think about.

It is not often you meet an Artist, Businesswoman (exceptional in both fields ) who is also very, very funny. You should see her postings at Priscillamaeetall/blogspot

I am going to find colour again in both my surroundings, my work (Caterer and B&B Owner, my Son and myself. Hope some of you will come along with me- I probably will be a terrible bore to start but I promise to feel comfortable enough to be funny sometimes too.
